Week 3 Homework and Videos
NOTE 1: MOST OF WEEK 1 AND 2 NOTES REMAIN THE SAME, EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING.
NOTE 2: YOU CAN START PRACTICING SIT ON FIRST COMMAND, PLACE, AND SIT ON THE DOG IN MORE DISTRACTING ENVIRONMENTS.
Homework Schedule:
Calming Exercises (ROTATE THESE TWO EXERCISES ON DIFFERENT DAYS):
- Sit on The Dog 30 + minutes Goal: To get your dog to lay down on their own steam in five minutes or under.
- Long Place 30 minutes (if you do 30 minutes, than you can rotate with "sit on the dog" on alternate days) Goal: To get your dog comfortable and more relaxed staying on their place for five minutes. Week 3 Change: You can do this outside or in more distracting environments. You want it to be challenging for your dog but not over the top.
Obedience Exercises:
- Sit with Interim Correction or Just Collar Correction for Sit when Needed (depending on how Loki is doing) 10 minutes or less Goal: To be able to sit your dog without a correction for 3 sessions of 4 in a row sits. Week 3 Change: Start practicing this with distractions that are challenging but that the dog can handle.
- (CHANGED) Circle Sit Stays 7+ minutes Goal: To work up to a minute circle your dog, and be able to get four in a row without corrections eventually.
- Send to Place 5 plus minutes Goal: To get your dog to step on themselves for times in a row for 3 sets.
- Circle Place 5 plus minutes Goal: To be able to perform 4 circle places in a row for one minute. Week 4 change: Now we are dropping the leash increasing the circle around him.
- The Beginning of the Recall or Come Command 5 plus minutes Goal: To get three sets of four in a row OR 15 repetitions.
